WWDXC Board Meeting 2008-04-28

The meeting was called to order at 7 PM local time by President Adam Blackmer, K7EDX.

Also present were Vice President Brian Moran, N9ADG; Treasurer Marina Zuetell, N7LSL; President Emeritus Denny Bowman. W7SNH; directors Jim Hadlock, K7WA; Joe Gregory, W7QN; Elsie Raamat, N7YX; Herb Holeman, W7ZF; and memberr Pat Shinners, W7GTO.
Minutes of the previous board meeting were approved.
WWDXC has received a request for monetary support of a DXpedition to VK9X.  A discussion followed, and the consensus reached was that the request would be granted if the DX entity ranked in the top 100 most wanted countries for DXers on the west coast USA.
NOTE:  Subsequent to the above writing, it has been found that VK9X is not on the top 100 list, so the above request will not be honored unless the board revisits the issue.  (W7ZF)
The treasurers report was submitted and approved.  Expenses last month were $94.95 and total assets of the club are $12,367.13.
Jim, K7WA, gave a report on the status of the club membership and wishes to remind everyone that dues for the 2008 year are due in May.  Dues are still only $25.00 !!  24 members have already prepaid their 2008 dues, and several more paid at the board meeting.  162 members will receive renewal notices soon.  Jim also reported that an updated membership roster has been compiled and distributed to the board and members via e-mail and on the web site.
Old business:
Meeting QTH for the June 2008 meeting has not yet been decided, so check the web site prior to the meeting for the location.
New business:
It was noted by those in attendance that one of our members, Ward Silver, N0AX, will be honored by the ARRL as the Dayton Hamvention “Amateur of the Year.”  The board decided that since Ward has already been honored by the ARRL, he will not receive any additional honors from the WWDXC, and that no further action will take place on this item.
Denny, W7SNH, gave a report on plans for Field Day and announced that the FD committee will meet at the Issaquah Brew Pub on May 8.  Members of the committee are Chairman W7SNH, K7BTW, N9ADG, K7EDX and W7ZF.  It was suggested by some of the board members that FD is not a contest!  This apparently came as a surprise to many of the attendees, who may ask for further clarification.
The Willamette Valley DX Club is sponsoring the Pacific Northwest DX Convention August 1-3, 2008 in Portland, Oregon.
May 13, 2008 WWDXC General Membership Meeting will be at the Lake City Elks Club.  The program for the meeting  will be announced later.
The board of directors meeting was adjourned at 8:26 PM local time.
Minutes compiled by W7ZF, who is responsible for any complaints!
