November 2020 – Board Meeting Notes

WWDXC Board meeting November 24, 2020

Present were Rob N7QT, Adam K7EDX, Tom NU7J, John W7CD, Rich W6RS, Kirk N7UK, Justin K5EM, Rusty W6OAT, Brian N7RVD and Dennis K7DSE. Note: This meeting was held virtually via the Zoom platform.

Rob opened the meeting at 7:00pm PST.  

Review/approve minutes

  • The October 2020 minutes were approved by voice vote

Correspondence

  • No new correspondence

Treasurer’s report

  • The October report was approved by voice vote
  • Cash balance 10/31/20: $28,428.27, Income September: $150.20 and expenditures -$31.20 (credit due to DXpedition refund)

Membership

  • Dennis, K7DSE reports no changes to membership

Old business

  • Salmon Run: Plaques are in process. Salmon prizes will be sent out shortly

New business

  • Officers/Directors 2021: One response was received from the email for Officer or Director position on the Club Reflector. Jack N7JP wishes to fulfill the open Director position for 2021 and was extended the position per Board consensus. Other Club members via verbal conversation expressed interest in active participation of Club affairs. The Board welcomes these efforts by any of its Club members
  • Annual member award considerations were emailed to the membership and the results are as follows. Congratulations to all!
    • Johnny Dack Lifetime Achievement Award:
      • N7WA – Michael DinkelMan. 
    • New Member of the Year:
      • WY7W – Chris Icide
    • Most Valuable Player:
      • W7CD – John Zantek
    • Member of the Year:
      • K7EDX – Adam Blackmer
  • The Club is in need of a Webmaster and a Club Reflector Administrator. The Board sincerely thanks John, W7CD for having stepped into this role and maintaining continuity
  • Tom NU7J, Awards Chairman, brought up the idea of a method for printing the Totem Award. Also mentioned was an alternate method for DX spotting other than the Club Reflector. Both topics will be examined further
  • Future Meetings: The Covid 19 environment has forced change of a normal routine. At this time, we are uncertain of the availability of our typical meeting location. In addition, virtual meetings have allowed distant members to partake in Club presentations. In the future, it is our intent to continue live recording of presentations during meetings

Monthly Dinner and Meeting

  • The December Christmas party meeting will be held virtually on December 8, 2020
  • A note to clarify is that non club members can attend these meeting presentations
