Our next club Zoom meeting is Tuesday September 10th. Happy hour starts around 5:45PM and the meeting starts at 6:30PM with the program beginning around 7PM (all times Pacific).
You won’t want to miss hearing from our own Jeff Wandling W7BRS presenting on his recent DXpedition to Lord Howe Island.
“On Lord Howe Island, for about 20+ days I was known as the Radio Man. Islanders who lived there — when I would meet them regularly at the coffee shop, or the cafe, or by the Lagoon — they would always stop to say hello and talk. I began to realize that my time on the island was being split between just being there and working the radio. I want to go into details and tell the club what it was like to balance the life on the island and the work that had to be done on the bands. Most importantly, each day the urge began to get stronger for me to accept that this is what I love to do. Be there, be anywhere with my radio, antenna and a paddle. I will do this again. I love being the DX and I want to explain why.”
