Meeting Minutes – Feb 27, 2024
- Meeting called to order at 7:06 PM by Adam K7EDX. In attendance were Adam K7EDX; Rich W6RS; Tom NU7J; Jack N7JP; Rusty W6OAT; Justin K5EM; Robin WA7CPA; Marv K7IU
- Review/Approve Minutes: Approved Jan 30, 2024 board meeting minutes.
- Correspondence: None. Approved $200 donation to H40WA Temotu dxpedition. (#42 most wanted on ClubLog for west coast).
- Treasurer Report: Approved previous Treasurer report. The report provided by Dennis K7DSE as of
Mar 10, 2024 reported a total balance in treasury of $16,089.60. - Membership report: 1 re-join, 2 new members. 157 active members. It was agreed that new members who sign up at Mike & Key will have a renewal date of June, 2025.
- Old Business
- PNW DX Convention:
- – Advertising: Adam placed a PNW DX convention ad in the 2024 Mike & Key pamphlet. He is also ordering business cards to hand out at the Mike & Key ham fest.
- – Discussed possible themes for the convention, i.e. “Run with the Sun” or something related to the sunspot cycle 25 peak
- – Discussed a convention price structure similar to:
- $240.00 for Conference fee and meals
- Ala Carte prices:
- $135.00 Conference Fee
- $75.00 for dinner
- $40.00 for Breakfast
- Convention pricing will be discussed further at next Board meeting when more pricing info is available.
- 75 hotel rooms are set aside.
- Next steps include: activate PNW DX convention website, promote creation of hotel reservations
- Speaker ideas include: Clipperton dxpedition, NASA (JPL) engineer presentation, set up DX forum including ARRL DX Advisory committee, CY0 Sable Island dxpedition (cross over topic with POTA), contest forum (CQWW contest director KR2Q), Josh WU7H (SOTA/POTA); Speaker to present info on how to get started in dxing; K6XX Elecraft K4 presentation; Chris WY7W RV presentation and demo, WRTC presentation, John K6MM Radio in Box (RIB) presentation
- Prize ideas: SteppIR, kits. BioEnno LifePo4 batteries and chargers, EFHW antennas, etc. Some prizes will be bucketed to allow separate raffle tickets to be purchased for a particular prize. One prize to be assigned as a door prize.
- WWDXC Website: Mark N7YD is up and running with Admin privileges. Mark is also helping with PNW DX convention website.

- New Business
- Salmon Run: Justin K5EM will be shipping SR glasses soon. Marv K7IU volunteered to help lead the SR committee for a few months (i.e. set up meeting to coordinate with other QSO parties, and to decide upon rule changes for 2024. Salmon Run committee members include Justin K5EM, Tom NU7J, Adam K7EDX and others.
