Meeting Minutes – Jan 30, 2024

  1. Meeting called to order at 7:06 PM by Adam K7EDX.  In attendance were Adam K7EDX; Rich W6RS, Dennis K7DSE; Tom NU7J; Jack N7JP, Justin K5EM, Marv K7IU
  2.  Review/Approve Minutes: Approved Nov 28, 2023 board meeting minutes.
  3. Correspondence:  Numerous membership renewals. 
  4. Treasurer Report: Approved previous Treasurer report.    The report provided by Dennis K7DSE as of
    January 28, 2024 reported a total balance in treasury of $15,596.29 
  5. Membership report: 36 renewals, 3 drops, 2 new members.   155 active members. 
  6. Old Business
    1. PNW DX Convention:
      – Justin and Adam now have control of the 2024 PNWDX website.
      – Flyers and eyeball QSO cards (business card size) will be printed to advertise at hamfests (Mike & Key,
        Stanwood, etc.)
      – Concurred with Rich’s menu choices
      – Next steps include: activate PNW DX convention website, promote creation of hotel reservations
      – Speaker ideas include: Clipperton dxpedition, NASA (JPL) engineer presentation, set up DX forum
        including ARRL DX Advisory committee, CY0 Sable Island dxpedition (cross over topic with POTA),
        contest forum (CQWW contest director KR2Q)
      – Prize ideas: SteppIR, kits.  Some prizes will be bucketed to allow separate raffle tickets to be purchased for a particular prize.  One prize to be assigned as  a door prize. 

      WWDXC Website: Mark N7YD will be granted Admin privileges this week so that he can make changes to wwdxc.org website.  Justin will ask Mark to automate membership form and membership payment (PayPal) on Website. 
    • Christmas Party: It was agreed that having the party on Saturday is preferred to a weekday.  The Old Spaghetti Factory venue was excellent and the price was significantly less than other venues.   Next year we will try to avoid conflicting with Ten meter contest. 
  7. New Business
    • Salmon Run: 
       Justin will place order for SR glasses after order deadline Friday.   Extra glasses will be ordered for convention prizes. 
      Discussed need to stand up a Salmon Run committee, to review and approve suggested SR rule changes.  (i.e. Revise county abbreviations to be same as 7QP).  SR committee members include Justin K5EM, Tom NU7J, Adam K7EDX and others.
    • February 13 Club meeting: Presentation topic: H44WA dxpedition
