Meeting Minutes – Sept 24, 2024
- Meeting called to order at 7:14 PM by Rob N7QT. In attendance were Rob N7QT; Adam K7EDX; Justin K5EM; Rusty W6OAT; Dennis K7DSE; Tom NU7J; Robin WA7CPA; Rich W6RS
- Review/Approve Minutes: Approved Aug 27, 2024 board meeting minutes
- Correspondence: No recent correspondence.
- Treasurer Report: Approved previous Treasurer report. The report provided by Dennis K7DSE as of Sept 24, 2024 reported a total balance in treasury of $13,976.64.
- Membership report: No new information reported.
- Old Business
- W7OM Club Call Sign Assignment – Rod W7OM (SK) was one of the original founders of WWDXC. The board was approached by Rod’s widow and ham friends a few months ago, with a suggestion to memorialize the W7OM call sign by having the W7OM call assigned to WWDXC.
The Board discussed and approved this idea, while discussing the pros and cons of this approach raised by club members. The main point of the discussion was the understanding that the call should be regularly used on the air by club members, for example during contests, field day, or other significant operating events. The board discussed and agreed that the board should regularly monitor the usage of this callsign, and if the W7OM call is not being used in this way, the call sign should be released to the public domain.- Dennis K7DSE moved that Justin K5EM be elected as a trustee for WWDXC and is authorized to apply for a new FRN and callsign for the club. The motion carried with 7 votes for, K5EM abstaining, and Justin K5EM was declared elected.
- It was noted that the board is acting on the wishes of the widow with the assurance by the ARRL Division Director that the rules allow us to apply in this way.
- WRTC Tent: WWDXC to sponsor W7 tent.
- Purchase of WWDXC banner: Adam purchased a WWDXC banner for future dxpeditions by club members.

- Salmon Run – Justin reported that results may be available in approximately 1 month. Justin and Adam are working on a new design for the Clean Sweep glass. (Adam is working on a WWDXC t-shirt design as well.) An e-mail will be sent to the reflector to request donations to help pay for glasses. It was agreed that we will purchase an award for the W7DX team. (Cost estimate less than $200).
- Officer Elections: Two open board positions: Marv and Robin’s position. Robin WA7CPA to be the Election Chairperson. (Involves reaching out to club membership to announce open positions and see who is interested in running for offices). Election to be held during November meeting. Election Committee: Rob, Justin, Robin
- 2024 Christmas Party – Dec 7 in afternoon: Adam to investigate location and assign date for Christmas Party (i.e. Lynnwood Spaghetti Factory)
- Oct Club meeting presentation topic: Craig K9CT to present CY9C dxpedition.
