November 2025 ZOOM Meeting

By | November 1, 2025

Our next ZOOM Club meeting is Tuesday, November 11th.  Happy hour starts around 6:00pm, the general meeting at 6:30pm, and the program around 7:00pm.

You won’t want to miss this one!  In the works for a while, Jim Hadlock K7WA, will facilitate a presentation on the History of the WWDXC.  In my 20+ years as a member of this club, we have never had a program on our history.  Here’s a teaser from Jim K7WA:

“Looking Back – History, Stories, and Nostalgia

DXing, as we know it, began in 1935 with an article in QST by Clinton B. DeSoto, “How to Count Countries Worked, A New DX Scoring System.” After an interruption during World War II, the modern DX Century Club program began with an official “Country List” and credit for contacts beginning November 15, 1945, the date U.S. amateurs were authorized by the FCC to return to the air. By 1952 there was enough interest in DXing for a group of amateurs in the Seattle area to form the Western Washington DX Club. Initially a group that gathered for lunch, by the late 1960’s there was enough interest for regular evening meetings and a newsletter, the Totem Tabloid. While our founding members are no longer with us, several current members have been with the Club for 50 years or more.

The November 11th meeting will feature several long-time members sharing memories and stories from their time as members of the Western Washington DX Club. Join us to hear about some of the history that has produced the Club we have today. And if you have a story from the past to share there will be time to add yours to the program as well.”

The Zoom link we’ll be sent out on the Groups.IO reflector, a day or so before the meeting.  Watch for it!
